A Shade of Italy

Shirt - H&M (somewhat recent); Skirt - H&M (very recent); Shoes - BR (old); Necklace - Stella and Dot

During a college summer study abroad program in Florence, Italy, I had the opportunity to do a lot of different things. I did a lot of traveling throughout Europe. I did a lot of studying of Italian and Art History. And I did A LOT of eating.

What I didn't do a lot of (and I'm kicking myself for it now) is soaking up all the fashion to be seen throughout Italy. As cliche as it is to say, a well-dressed Italian really is about as good as it gets (I mean, c'mon!).

But through all the mounds of pasta and buckets of wine I had, I did manage to pick up one memory of a fabulous Italian. It was ground-breaking to me at the time, but she paired camel with black and white and I thought it looked exquisite. Why was it so ground-breaking? Well, while khaki and black is a staple pairing, camel and black is so much different. Camel is such a warmer color than khaki and it's just a shade so close to brown that it puts black on edge. And that's what I love about it!

  1. I love this combo! The skirt mirrors your hair color and the stripes make it modern :-) Great outfit!
